I've been going to Groovy Moo for alot of years now. Groovy Moo is the best of the best of gelato from Yorkshire UK.
The owner is a very pleasant young lady indeed. If you want a great ice cream, go to this place..
A family run business as well.
Highly recommended it. π―
Dropped in to Malton whilst staying in nearby Helmsley. Intention was to pick up some pies and pastries but couldn't resist an ice cream. Great range of flavours and outside seating in the courtyard but it started raining. Really friendly staff and a good portion too.
Best ice cream in Malton - and Yorkshire too Iβm sure.
Nice range of flavours and canβt go wrong with any.
Nice little ice shop, they have lots of different flavours, i had a big cone with cappuccino, banoffee and raspberry which was absolute gorgeous.
The lady that served me was super friendly.
They have a nice room upstairs, you can sit against the radiator which is really good on cold days or if you have a bad back!
Checked the opening times several days prior. Excited to try this famous gelato. Got there mid day and the shop was shut. No note saying why or if they'd be back at all that day. Stood around like a goblin in the freezing cold for ten minutes before giving up.
Oh yes, and to confuse us further there was a sign saying "queue this way," so we followed it, thinking maybe there was another entrance and ended up in a butchers. We bought a pie. I Got tricked by the pie man. He said it would be nice but it was cheap cuts of meat and all gristle. Maybe the pie man put the sign up to lead gelato customers to his meat emporium.
I considered ringing the number on the website but what would i say? "Why arent you at work? I want some ice cream." Id feel silly and theyd probably speak to me like tradesmen do when you want to hire them and give them money: "im Bob the plumber, what do you want?" (I can barely hear them because theyre driving and their wipers are on) "you want your tap fixing? Do i have to? Cant you just fix it yourself?"
That kind of thing.
Maybe I sound dramatic, but I really like gelato and have tried it all over the world. So I was very disappointed. I could have cried. But I didn't.
IF there was an emergency reason for not being open, that's fine, but leave a note next time.
I would have left a photo of the shut shop but my fingers were too cold to use my phone.
What an amazing little gem this is. We stumbled across this place when looking for places that sell Ice cream and they sell more than that.
They have such a lovely selection. They have the traditional scoop in a cone or tub with a great array of flavours. They have ice cream that comes with waffles or pancakes and other bits I may not have even seen.
My little boy loves bakewell tarts and he had bakewell tart flavour and it was perfection. My wife had a chocolate cake mix flavour with something else and she said it was out of this world. And I had a Salted caramel waffle. The waffle was soft and cooked perfectly and the ice cream was unreal. I'm not surprised there was a constant queue outside. Especially that it is not over priced.
This place is amazing and the staff were so friendly and the owner was so down to earth and lovely.
I would 100% recommend this place to anyone.
The Lime flavoured Gelato is the best. The flavour balance is just yum!!
I am from South Africa, I don't ever remember having such a yummy treat.
Stopped by today & couldnβt resist the incredible looking gelato, so glad we didnβt. It was utterly delicious. The raspberry no dairy gelato was quite literally sensational. Will most definitely be back.
